The Child in Me

Life has been smoother after the strenuous family schedule few weeks ago.

There was this house moving, weekend out-of-town trip, and bidding goodbye to a family going abroad. It's kinda' easy to think this for some... but not with the JUN's.

Tommy's family is quite different from other families here in Korea, as far as I know. They are really, really this kind of "close" to each other, they enjoy eating with a couple of drinks... I MEAN eating for as long as they can! I mean I know their metabolism are quite amazing even if they eat for hours and still they don't get fat but, how about ME??? (kkk)

A typical get-together dinner would last for 3 hours... minimum but if you'll say it's a get-together party with some more relatives coming it would be just like until dawn! My mom-in-law has a fairly generous set of hands. Appetizers, main dish, desserts... soup for hangovers... you name it! and the list goes on and on. Our family believes like it's better to have more than to have less so someone might as well think he's like a king when it comes to eating (I've taken this belief too recently)

Tommy's sister and her family had left for Thailand to live there for a year then eventually go to US to pursue their career plans (my sis-in-law wants to be a designer and her husband's going to a law school). This leaving made us all busy for weeks. We helped them moved their stuffs at home (it needs serious labor 'coz they have to put out everything they have like appliances and home furnishings 'coz they couldn't bring them along there, so we gotta have two refrigerators at home, 6 closets and 2 water purifiers like that and more!). Then we had this out-of-town trip to Solbeige Pension, Bennecol. It was like a kind of goodbye trip for us. They were always the ones who convince us to go to trip frequently. I guess there would be lesser trips now. We went there on 13th, Friday and you couldn't believe how dark was the streets there! (My other sis-in-law, cousin-in-law, and I got to catch up with them after our work). We had barbecue on the grill and some good-old-time chat with some alcohol of course. We were just regretful that because we were all tired and drained of the moving and everything, we slept a bit early and never enjoyed much of the night. But the good part of it was in the morning, we all woke up and had breakfast and had a walk along the valley. It was such a nice feeling! We had this family pictures on the pension grounds and play with the kids after. We checked out at lunch and headed to Gyeong Ju after. There we went to Bulguk Temple and then went to Gyeong Ju World Culture Expo Park and saw the town's tower in full colors...they had this laser show at night.

Last Sunday, the 22nd the family left. It should just be a normal wishing you a good trip like that but suddenly a tear fell from my eyes and I just knew I was crying! I didn't know the exact reason for it, was it because I'll be missing them or it's just because I am now one of them???

My tears would only know.

if you wanna link the word Gyeong Ju for example, highlight it with your mouse then click the link icon (the chain-world icon like at the top box). A hyperlink box will appear then so type then the URL of the said link. I usually open another window and just copy the http add of the link which I suppose to type. It saves time more than typing it.

Hope it helps!

Keeping Right

Have you ever experienced walking on the right side of a sidewalk when suddenly a rushing Korean run into your direction, literally? If you won't give way, you'll just hear that someone muttering something under his breath. Or have you ever had these cases like you were doing " patintero "(pah-tin-teh-roh) with the other person when you are walking? I find this behavior very bothering (sometimes odd and funny) especially when I use the stairways in the subway. Some subway stations have escalors going up installed at the left (e.g. Deokcheon Station). What is surprising is that they even have this sign: I told this to Tommy a few days ago and I just found out from him that they learn walking at the left side of the road in their elementary days. They even have this song that goes lilke this: "People keep to the left and cars to the right. Let's cross the street after looking right and left." So, it must be because of an old convention of walking on the le...

Samsung's AMOLED

Yup. I have a new phone and this is because of Chloe. She knocked out my phone so hard on the bathroom floor that made the monitor useless for two whole days! I went to a near Anycall service center and actually planned to repair it but they said that I had to pay for around 25,000won for a part replacement, I just thought of buying a new one since there are a lot of free phones nowadays and I had used my phone for more than two years. To pay 25k for an old, really full of scratches phone (because of Chloe) is too much for me since sooner or later I also need to replace it. In the end, it turned out not to be a free phone(850,000 won / $690). Tommy bought this phone for me saying that I need a "much, much better phone" because of his daughter...hahaha! and because I've been always using free phones since I came here in Korea (which are NOT really FREE PHONES because of the additional services included in the phone bill for the first few months). So, I resulted picking thi...
